LIGHT RIGID, (LR) OR CLASS LR (Ambulance Courses)

If you have recently received your intake approval letter from the NSW Ambulance Service it states that you must upgrade to “an unrestricted LR licence”. ABC Driving School has been conducting Light Rigid licence upgrades for candidates wishing to become PTO’s as well as graduates of the Paramedic course from ‘UTas’, Bathurst and UNSW for several years now and we fully understand how critically important this stage of your enrolment is to you. We are more than happy to discuss any concerns that you may have and our staff will answer any and all questions that you put to us.

We will do our utmost to ensure that this part of the whole ambulance enrolment process is made as easy and stress free as possible. If you cannot drive a manual, we will organise some lessons in a manual car for you before you attempt the LR course in the minibus. If you are not available during the week, we will arrange for your course to take place on a Saturday or Sunday at no extra cost to you, we can undertake the course on a public holiday if required, (at no extra cost) to ensure that you do not miss the NSW Ambulance Service intake deadline date.

What to do next

Just like your course we like to make things as simple for you as possible, just follow these six easy steps and let us take care of your needs –

1. Pass a Knowledge Test at your local Motor Registry. (practice for free here)
2. While you are at the Motor Registry, pass an RMS Eyesight Test.
3. (Still at the Motor Registry) - Purchase a CBA Logbook & Guidebook.
4. Contact ABC Driving School – 02 96761113
5. Come along for our LR training Course.
6. On successful completion of the course we issue you with a certificate - take your certificate to the RMS - pick up new licence.

Cost, location & duration –

This course is conducted in a 14-seat Toyota Commuter minibus (pictured), from experience we have found that the vast majority of clients are able to successfully complete the course in one day, however if additional time is required these additional hours are charged at $120 per hour. The course is normally conducted in one day at our Arndell Park training centre (near Eastern Creek). Courses are available seven days per week at no extra charge and the total cost of the course is $850.00.
